Company History

In 1914, F.E. Schouweiler established his business in Fort Wayne upon the stronghold site of the original 1700's fort, and then applied the new company's name: Old Fort Supply.

Building materials and bricks were its business back then, and building materials and brick remain its business today. Through the years, Old Fort has been a driving force within the community. Nearly every landmark brick building in the city is constructed with Old Fort Brick...the Lincoln Tower, Bank One (Summit), National City Bank, Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, Grand Wayne Center, St. Mary's Church, First Presbyterian Church, South Side High School, Homestead High School, Carroll High School, North Side High School, Bishop Dwenger, St. Francis University, Taylor University, IIT, Ivy Tech, and the new Allen County Jail, to name a few.

Old Fort Supply has continued that respected 4 tradition of supplying the Fort Wayne community with the best quality building products and brick available anywhere. That dedication to quality is something that lives on with our employees as well. Approximately 35 percent of Old Fort's employees have more than 22 years experience with the company. Their knowledge, experience and care combined with good products are why it's not uncommon to hear phrases like, "I like to go to Old Fort. I even take my clients," and "Service is Old Fort's strongest asset."
